Helen Brayley
is a qualified Primary teacher, with music specialism,
and an Early Years
music practitioner with more than twenty years’ experience.
As an Early Years music practitioner, she works with
children from birth to four years in a variety of
Early settings across
the South West. She delivers tailor made training sessions
to the EY sector and in Higher Education. Her work also includes
establishing an Early Years network in the South West on
behalf of Musicleader.
She has developed her own set of resources, designed
to inspire practitioners and develop their expertise
in music making
with young children. Her training resource pack, MUSICTALK,
which
aims to develop language skills through singing and music
making, has been commissioned by local children’s centres.
She is passionate about her work and aims to encourage
children to find their own voice and creative expression
through a
varied repertoire of music and song. With practitioners,
she aims
to boost confidence and encourage them to enjoy playing
with sounds, rhymes and rhythms, spontaneously and with
groups.
As a musician she plays flute, guitar, drums and piano
and she performs as a vocalist with a local band. She
is also
one of Devon’s top dance callers for a number of ceilidh
bands.
